Abstract

CONTENTS: Esta monografía tiene como propósito ofrecer una visión global de las instituciones de inversión alternativa, protagonistas de un extraordinario crecimiento durante la última década. El trabajo enumera las características que se han asociado a estas instituciones y comenta las estrategias de inversión utilizadas con más frecuencia por las mismas. También se ofrece un repaso de la literatura académica existente sobre el tema. Por último se comentan las cuestiones que estas instituciones plantean para los objetivos de regulación (especialmente el riesgo sistémico y la protección del inversor) y las tendencias de regulación que se están planteando en diversas jurisdicciones.
