Intégration et résilience économique du Canada : enseignements tirés des recherches du CIRANO

Abstract

Malgré des relations historiquement étroites ayant permis au Canada et aux États-Unis de tirer parti de leur intégration commerciale, les récentes perturbations du commerce mondial ont remis en question les fondements de cette interdépendance dite protectrice. Depuis 2020, plusieurs recherches menées au CIRANO mettent en lumière les fragilités structurelles que cette interdépendance engendre : saturation des infrastructures logistiques, exposition asymétrique aux chocs, surdépendance à un partenaire unique. Autant de facteurs qui appellent à repenser nos stratégies économiques et à réévaluer nos priorités d’investissement. Ces vulnérabilités, identifiées de longue date, exigent désormais des réponses concrètes, ciblées et coordonnées.
