Abstract

While Quebec and Canada are still trying to address the labor shortage, logic would suggest that we first realize the full potential of people already here. Yet, even if they were born in Canada, have a good knowledge of French or English, and have been educated here, members of a visible minority seem to have difficulty finding a place in the job market. A CIRANO study (Boudarbat and Adom, 2023) concludes that Canadian-born visible minorities are the blind spot of integration policies. People from diverse backgrounds, especially young people, deserve our full attention to avoid the risks of socio-economic exclusion and the consequences this could have on social cohesion.
