→ Read the full report The Quebec Student Loan and Scholarships Program enables tens of thousands of students with insufficient financial resources to pursue post-secondary studies. In July 2023, the Minister of Higher Education confirmed that enhancements to the program, representing investments of $140 million, would come into effect at the start of the new school year. On the federal side, interest on student and apprentice loans has been eliminated since 2022, which is not the case in Quebec. A recent CIRANO study looks at post-secondary participation issues. Du côté fédéral, les intérêts sur les prêts aux étudiants et aux apprentis ont été supprimés depuis 2022, ce qui n’est pas le cas au Québec. Une récente étude CIRANO s’intéresse aux questions de participation aux études postsecondaires. En s’appuyant sur les données d’une expérience randomisée unique au monde, les auteurs montrent que l’augmentation du soutien financier aux études postsecondaires a très peu d’impact sur les choix éducationnels des jeunes.
