LBD Documentation: Procedures to Update the LBD

Abstract

This document describes the procedures necessary to expand the Longitudinal Business Database with a complete year of new Business Register data. It describes the algorithms that generate the 2000 update as well as their purpose and location. These algorithms involve a rather lengthy sequence of programs. Some are design to diagnose and describe the extent of a problem (e.g. inactivity gaps, duplicate CFNs). Others are required for the data integration process. These programs are described in the sequential order in which they must be executed. The programs are largely automated and can be run for any desired year with a simple change –typically a change in the macro statement; in some cases further adjustments are required every time an additional year of data are added to the LBD.
