Migraciones de corta/larga distancia y organización funcional del espacio: Chile, 1997-2002

Abstract

El estudio de la migración interna ha sido tradicionalmente planteado dentro de la concepción del espacio como un mero contendor, en este trabajo se introduce una perspectiva del espacio entendido como una red de relaciones en la forma de flujos de migración. El propósito del trabajo es describir la estructura de la red de los flujos de migración que se dan entre las comunas de Chile, entre 1997 y 2002. La información utilizada en el estudio proviene del Censo de Población y Vivienda de Chile del año 2002 y tiene en cuenta las 346 comunas (municipalidades) que forman las 13 regiones administrativas del país. Para su análisis, se utilizan métodos provenientes del análisis de redes sociales. Los resultados muestran una alta diferencia en la centralidad de las comunas participantes en los intercambios al controlar por tipos de ocupación y capital humano, así como el rol que juegan las distancias geográficas y económicas en el proceso medidas como diferenciales de estructuras sectoriales y tamaños de mercado potencial.
