Il ruolo dell'econometria nel carattere scientifico dell'economia politica

Abstract

Il saggio vuole mostrare la contemporanea esistenza, sin dagli anni Trenta, di due distinti modi di intendere l'econometria: da un lato vi chi ritiene che il lavoro empirico possa contribuire alla scientificit dell'economia politica, dall'altro chi lo nega, sostenendo che l'econometria non pu essere di stimolo allo sviluppo del pensiero economico. Poich la molteplicit di linee di ricerca una delle caratteristiche dell'economia politica, non sorprende che non vi sia unanimit net modo di intendere il ruolo dell'econometria. Il dibattito su questi temi viene ripercorso a partire dalla fondazione dell'Econometric Society, con particolare attenzione ai problemi ed ai metodi dell'economia come scienza.
