Instructional dataset, Accompanying An Introduction to Classical Econometric Theory Paul A. Ruud, Oxford University Press, 2d ed. (c) 2000 Datasets also accessible in ASCII from http://elsa.berkeley.edu/users/ruud/cet/data.html Timeseries data (1955M1-1994M12), from Mark Watson, 480 observations, 7 variables, including yr, mo, date, dlcpi (second difference in LCPI multiplied by 1200), where LCPI is the logarithm of CPI-U: ALL ITEMS (82-84=100,SA) = ln(PUNEW). (Source: PUNEW from CITIBASE), ulag (lagged value of LHUR, where UNEMPLOYMENT RATE: ALL WORKERS, 16 YEARS & OVER (%,SA) (CITIBASE)), dlpfe (lagged difference in LPFE minus the twice-lagged difference in LCPI all multiplied by 1200 and in deviation from the sample mean), where LPFE is the logarithm of the food and energy price index constructed per footnote 18 in King and Watson (1994), specifically, LPFE = ln(0.66*pw1100(t) + 0.34*pw1300(t)) where PW1100 and PW1300 are CITIBASE PPI's for FOODSTUFFS & FEEDSTUFFS and CRUDE FUEL, respectively, and nixon (for 72:1 73:12 this variable equals 0.5, for 74:1 74:12 this variable equals -0.3, and for 75:1 75:12 this variable equals -0.7.
