Abstract

Monetary policy nowadays is usually decided by a committee. A narrative approach of the history of the U.S Federal Open Market Committee suggests that the Fed Chair’s economic beliefs and the Committee’s center of gravity of policy preferences matter for decision making. De nos jours, la politique monétaire est généralement décidée par des comités. L’histoire du Comité fédéral de l’open market (FOMC) aux États-Unis montre que les convictions du président de la Fed en matière économique et le centre de gravité des préférences du Comité en matière de politique monétaire ont une importance dans la prise de décision.
