Abstract

In 2025, consumption in the United States proved to be unexpectedly resilient against a backdrop of inflation and uncertainty. This dynamic was partly due to the increase in the prices of financial assets and their weight in household savings. While this unique situation may have contributed to the divergence between the United States and the euro area, it leaves US households exposed to a market correction.
