Monitoreo al sistema de salud en el departamento del Chocó: 1998-2004

Abstract

La intención fundamental de la Constitución Política de 1991 y de las leyes que desarrollaron el Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud, fue la de universalizar la cobertura sectorial entre todos los habitantes del territorio nacional. Una forma de conocer sus logros es haciéndole seguimiento a la implementación del modelo de salud y a la evolución del aseguramiento en las diversas regiones del país. El departamento del Chocó se ha caracterizado por tener un indicador muy alto de necesidades básicas insatisfechas y baja cobertura en salud, pero sobre este último particular no se han elaborado registros consistentes de cifras y tampoco se han desarrollado investigaciones que traten de encontrar las explicaciones al fenómeno de la baja cobertura. Este estudio pretende realizar un monitoreo a la salud del Departamento entre los años 1998 y 2004, con el objeto de contribuir a la elaboración de un diagnóstico sobre la realidad de la salud en la región.
