Déficit Fiscal y Tasas de Interés en Colombia

Abstract

En este ensayo se estudia, para Colombia, la relación que existe entre el déficit del sector público no financiero y el del gobierno nacional central con la tasa de interés de mercado. El estudio considera el periodo 1950-1993 para el sector público en su conjunto y el periodo 1963-1993 para el gobierno nacional. Inicialmente, se presenta una revisión de la literatura teórica y empírica sobre el tema. Luego, se describe el comportamiento del déficit y el de sus fuentes de financiamiento tanto para el gobierno como para el sector público. Por último, se señala los resultados de algunos ejercicios econométricos, los cuales no permiten sustentar la hipótesis de que existe algún tipo de relación entre déficit y tasa de interés en la economía colombiana.
