Impacto de la Regulacion Financiera sobre Paises Emergentes

Abstract

Este articulo analiza el impacto potencial de un mayor nivel de capital y liquidez bancaria sobre la penetracion del credito y el desarrollo economico en los paises emergentes. Con este fin, se realiza un ejercicio econometrico en dos etapas. En la primera etapa se estima el impacto del capital y la liquidez sobre la cantidad y el precio del credito. En la segunda etapa se cuantifica el impacto de estas ultimas variables sobre el PIB per capita. De tal forma que el impacto de la regulacion sobre el producto se estima mediante una regla de cadena. El articulo muestra que, en general, los efectos del capital y la liquidez son mayores en los paises emergentes en terminos de penetracion bancaria y PIB per capita.
