Características étnico-raciales y desigualdad de oportunidades en México

Abstract

En este estudio se analiza el efecto de las características étnico-raciales y los orígenes sociales en la desigualdad de oportunidades en México. Con base en la Encuesta ESRU de Movilidad Social en México 2023 (ESRU-EMOVI 2023), se encuentra una mayor persistencia intergeneracional en la parte baja de la distribución de recursos económicos para las personas con tonos de piel oscuros; en especial, si son mujeres, hablantes de una lengua indígena y autoadscritas como indígenas. Asimismo, se observa que la perpetuación en el estrato con más recursos económicos resulta más favorable para quienes se consideran blancos y, además, tienen tonos de piel claros. Ambas situaciones varían entre las cinco grandes regiones del país: el norte tiene mejores resultados que el sur. Por lo tanto, las desventajas de origen en los procesos de movilidad social son atenuadas o exponenciadas según los rasgos étnico-raciales y la región de procedencia de las personas.
