Hacia una estimación del costo-beneficio del sistema de cuidados sobre la movilidad social

Abstract

La importancia de los servicios de cuidados para fomentar la movilidad social ascendente ha sido evidenciada en investigaciones recientes en México (Orozco et al., 2022; Ortega-Diaz, 2022), pero esta es la primera vez que se realizan cálculos de su costo-beneficio para México usando la ESRU-EMOVI 2023 junto con la ENOE 2023-I y la ENIGH 2022. El objetivo es mostrar que los beneficios de invertir en servicios e infraestructura de cuidados son mayores que los costos, a nivel tanto microeconómico como macroeconómico. Haciendo uso de matrices de movilidad social, técnicas de matching, matrices de transición, y fórmulas de valor presente, realizamos un análisis costo-beneficio a nivel hogar. Los resultados muestran que invertir en cuidados tiene beneficios positivos para todas las edades. A nivel macroeconómico realizamos un análisis descriptivo que aporta a la conclusión de que la inversión en un sistema de cuidados traerá más beneficios en salud, educación y vida laboral productiva.
