La brecha de género en la inclusión financiera en México

Abstract

Si bien cada vez más mujeres abren cuentas bancarias en México, todavía existe una brecha de género de 7 puntos porcentuales que no ha variado desde el año 2013. La brecha de género presenta desigualdad de oportunidades en el uso de los productos y servicios financieros. En este trabajo se analiza la amplitud de la brecha de género y su dimensión por tipo de producto y características de las mujeres, con el fin de identificar áreas de oportunidad para políticas públicas. La brecha de género en la inclusión financiera se puede reducir creando mayores oportunidades en el mercado laboral formal para las mujeres, mediante regulaciones que disminuyan las barreras de género, aprovechando la tecnología y la banca móvil, eliminando las normas discriminatorias y aumentando la educación y capacidad financiera de las mujeres.
