Taxa De Câmbio E Preços De Commodities:Uma Investigação Sobre A Hipótese Da Doença Holandesa No Brasil

Abstract

Este trabalho investiga os sintomas de doença holandesa para o Brasil em termos da influência dos preços das diversas commodities exportadas sobre a apreciação da taxa de câmbio nominal e real. Para isso, o trabalho utiliza análise de cointegração e modelos de vetores de correção de erros (VEC). Os resultados apontam que as evidências de commodity currency para o período 1995-2009 são fracas, pois muitos dos coeficientes dos preços das commodities analisadas são positivos ou não são estatisticamente significantes. No entanto, quando se toma o sub-período 2003-2009, as evidências dos modelos VEC se tornam mais robustas. O trabalho sugere a importância da análise dos efeitos dos preços de commodities específicas sobre a taxa de câmbio, pois, quando tomados os preços de alimentos, das matérias-primas e dos minerais (em menor grau), os resultados indicam que tais variáveis parecem contribuir para uma apreciação da taxa de câmbio nominal e real no período recente.
