Although fish is a major animal protein product in the Egyptian Market, few studies deal with its market price analysis. The objectives of this study are (1) A time series analysis for prices of the main types of fish. The model includes estimates of time trend, Seasonality and cyclical movements. (2) Analysis of the price marketing efficiency was done by the estimation of the response of the whole sale price to the retail price. (3) The marketing efficiency of the whole sale market is assessed through the estimation of the market price and the quantity delivered to the market. The study used published and unpublished time series data Of prices and quantities delivered to the market as well as the Household budget survey data. Results showed that the inflation rate in fish prices were less than the growth in the consumer price index. Only the "Tilabia" Fish Price has a significant seasonal index. Its prices are high in winter and decrease in summer. The cyclical movements before economic reform polices were relatively long (8-10 years) but after the implementation of the economic reform program the length of the cycle has decreased to 3-4 years. The magnitude of the price elasticity of demand for fish was almost the same at both retail and whole sale market. Accordingly, the relative changes in fish retail prices are transferred at the same percent to the derived demand at whole sale market. Therefore, there are enough incentives to improve the marketing services and to expand the supply of fish. The two major types of fish in Egypt are oriented by the supply power. There is also a seasonal pattern of fish supply. Its peak in winter and autumn (October- March) and its lowest level is in spring and summer. This is due to the lack of efficient marketing functions of transportation; storage, packing and handling that fit such highly perishable commodity.
