Abstract

This report contains estimates of the 1949 acreage of field corn and small-grain crops harvested that were sprayed or dusted for weed control, as well as the acreage of corn that was sprayed or dusted for insects. Also, it contains estimates of the 1949 acreage of cotton that was dusted or sprayed, the number of times dusted or sprayed and the percentage of the acreage that was mopped one or more times. These estimates are based on information supplied in February 1950 by voluntary crop reporters of the United States Department of Agriculture and on material obtained from both State and Federal weed control specialists and entomologists.
