Agricultural Commodity Statistics

Abstract

Report Foreword: At the beginning of World War II, a check was made of the statistics which were being collected and were then available covering crop, livestock and related subjects. The check also showed important gaps that needed to be filled to provide a well-rounded picture of the entire situation. The data were embodied in a report which was widely used for reference purposes. A number of these gaps were filled during the war to meet wartime needs, but there still remain a number of items for which there is a definite demand. These are shown under each commodity. The following report is intended to bring up to date the report prepared at the beginning of the war, taking into account recent demands for detailed data on certain commodities. This report should prove useful for reference purposes. A few agricultural statistical series issued by other Government Agencies may have been omitted here. However, the listing given is believed to be practically complete.
