Abstract

Excerpts from the report: This report presents detailed descriptions of the various kinds of market news information currently available on poultry from Federal, State, and private agencies and an appraisal of the extent to which they are used by the industry. Market news information on poultry has been issued for many years by Federal, State, and private market reporting services. Despite this fact, there has been no recent single source where these various series were cataloged. This inventory describes 164 market news reports for poultry. In general, the listings contain the following information: (1) region, State, area, or city where the report applies or originates; (2) kind of poultry--broiler-fryers, hens, turkeys, ducks, etc.; (3) form of the product--live, ready-to-cook, icepacked, or frozen; (h) unit of sale--trucklots, pooled truckloads, less-than-trucklots; (5) a description of the contents of the report--price report, storage holdings report, slaughter report, etc.; (6) trading level; (7) highest use--national, regional, State, or local; (8) the main users--producers, processors, wholesalers, or retailers; (9) frequency of issue; (10) how the report is supported--Federal, Federal-State, State, or other; and (11) where it is published.
