Abstract

Excerpt from the report Introduction: The study reported here was primarily concerned with the use of electricity and electrical equipment to improve the efficiency of farm production. Its objectives were (1) to analyze the ways in which electricity and electrical equipment can affect individual farm enterprises and the organization of the farm as a whole, (2) to examine the ways in which they can further the goals of the farm family, and (3) to analyze some of the factors that retard adoption of electrical equipment for use in farm production. Although this discussion centers about the Eastern Livestock Area of Iowa, it should be useful over a much broader area, since farms in this section are comparable to many in the Com Belt.
