Abstract

Excerpt from the report Summary: The study was conducted to (1) determine whether it is feasible to measure week-to-week changes in the wholesale and retail movement of apples, and (2) ascertain the most appropriate technique for accomplishing this task from the standpoints of cost, value of the data, accuracy, and timeliness. Shippers in the major producing areas had stated such information for a number of key markets about the country would be a valuable supplement to data on unloads of apples and would provide marketing agencies a sounder basis for making marketing decisions. The retail analysis covers Philadelphia; the wholesale analysis covers Philadelphia and Chicago.
