Abstract

Excerpt from the report Summary: New and improved methods and equipment for cartoning and candling eggs, on a "production line" basis recently introduced in the industry, are of particular interest to plant operators who seek ways of increasing operational efficiency. Interest is being manifested in the introduction of improved materials-handling methods and equipment. As a first step in meeting the needs of plant managers this report: (1) Describes various egg candling and cartoning systems; (2) presents some of the principles for improving handling methods; and (3) outlines some of the improved materials-handling methods observed in progressive egg assembly plants.
