The Marketing of Milk in the Louisville Area under Federal Regulation

Abstract

Excerpts from the report Preface: This report is based on one of a series of studies of the operation of Federal milk marketing programs in different, fluid milk markets of the country. The studies have been made by the Research Division of the Dairy Branch, Production and Marketing Administration, U. S. Department of Agriculture. To the producer, the milk distributor, or the consumer seeking to understand the Louisville milk marketing order as a document and to understand the necessity for its various provisions, no amount of description could fully replace the record of experience in developing the order and operating under it. The present report treats thoroughly the regulation of milk marketing in a specific market, both in principle and in detail. With respect to detail, in particular, it differs from other reports in the series, and gives the reader much that otherwise could be based only on experience.
