Abstract

Excerpt from the report Introduction: This is a report of the charges made at each step in the marketing process for lettuce. The production of this commodity has almost doubled during the last 20 years, thereby making it one of the more important vegetables marketed in the United States. The report takes into consideration the services rendered by marketing agencies, and the channels through which lettuce moved from producing areas to consumers in Pittsburgh, Pa. For those interested in improving the marketing of farm products, exact information of the type given in this report is a necessary prerequisite to studies of marketing efficiency.
