Abstract

----The growing economic and environmental costs of conventional techniques of agricultural production affords the development of alternative systems production of lower environmental impact and production costs, and the most common technique is the no-tillage system. The aim of this work was to analyze to profitability rate of corn crop under two production systems, the conventional system and no-tillage system, in the regions of Itapetininga, São Paulo State. The indicators were: cost operational effective, total operational cost, gross revenue, gross margin, break even point, operational profit and profitability rate. Greater economy was verified in no tillage system in reason of lower operational costs and same yield. The increase of herbicide costs and fixed costs of grain harvester self propelling in this system were not compensated by the largest operational costs of conventional system.
