Abstract

Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar os aspectos socioeconômicos da produção de coco do Município de Quissamã. Foram obtidos dados e informações dos produtores mediante questionários e acompanhamento nas lavouras. Grande parte dos produtores de coco desse Município possui dificuldades e deficiências em seu manejo de produção e no controle gerencial. Observou-se baixa produtividade; ineficiência dos recursos de produção; e instabilidade dos preços do produto no processo de comercialização entre outros fatores que resultam em reflexos diretos na baixa lucratividade desse empreendimento. Constataram-se alguns fatores determinantes da baixa competitividade da produção de coco, como os relacionados com controle de pragas e doenças; com a utilização de defensivos; com o gerenciamento de custos; e com a comercialização.
