Tendências Mundiais No Consumo De Alimentos

Abstract

O trabalho analisa o consumo de alimentos para um grupo de países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento no período 1961 a 2003. Tem como principal fonte de informações a FAO. Os grupos de produtos analisados são cereais, vegetais/frutas e carnes. Nesses grupos analisam-se os principais produtos consumidos nos países considerados. Uma das conclusões, é que o crescimento populacional, a urbanização e o aumento de renda, têm provocado acentuadas mudanças no consumo, com a substituição de cereais por outros tipos de alimentos. As evidências mostraram, também, que há um grande potencial de mercado para vegetais e frutas, pois o crescimento do consumo desses alimentos tem-se dado de maneira forte em países muito populosos como China e Índia. As carnes, em especial de aves e suína, mostram-se em expansão nos países considerados, o que representa um potencial para países exportadores como o Brasil.
