Agricultura Familiar No Semi-Árido: Fatalidade De Exclusão Ou Recurso Para O Desenvolvimento Sustentável

Abstract

A melhoria do padrão de vida das populações rurais do Semi-Árido por meio do desenvolvimento rural sustentável continua sendo um desafio para o Estado e para a sociedade civil. A intervenção considerada de maior êxito que é a irrigação em perímetros públicos, requer investimentos ingentes, longo prazo de maturação, além de disponibilidade combinada de água e solos adequados. Recentes abordagens associando a ação coletiva no manejo os recursos naturais com o emprego da pequena irrigação, sugerem intervenções de baixo custo e mais generalizáveis no espaço do Semi-Árido. Este trabalho focaliza as condicionantes e possibilidades das ações coletivas dos agricultores familiares do Semi-Árido e sua propensão para conceber e conduzir arranjos produtivos locais, passíveis de serem implantados com o uso de técnicas de convivência com a seca.
