Abstract

---------------------------------------------------------- There are now various technological alternatives for utilization of biomass power generation, technically feasible for small and medium productions. one of these alternative that is attracting great interest is the technology of anaerobic digestion animal waste, particularly waste and pig and cattle, by deploying digesters. The aim of this study was to evaluate the economics of deploying biodigester with the use of animal manure in the rural settlement of Pirituba II, City of Itaberá / SP, in 2005, for the production of biogas and bio-fertilizers. We evaluated the cost savings relating to the supply of electric and thermal energy from the Biogas for five households located in the settlement compared to the costs of construction and operation of a digester. The results indicate that the revenue from the biogas for domestic use presents comparative advantage in relation to the use of sources as traditional electricity and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Total revenues for the system resulted in R $ 3,698.00 ahead of the establishment costs prorated over the life useful biodigester and operating costs, which totaled R $ 1,000.7 per year. under these circumstances it appears that investments in the digester can be amortized over a period of 3 years. These results can be used in the formulation of public policies in to implement technical assistance for the use of digesters rural settlements. The results can also be used to support proposals funding programs for utilization of biomass for energy production, aimed at this segment of agriculture in view of the cost savings generated in Process as well as the clear environmental advantages.
