Abstract

-------------------------------------------------- The municipality of Itarema has obtained, recently, high levels of development in the municipalities that make up the Coastal Microregion Camocim and Acaraú. on However, this municipality experiencing disparities in development between their communities due in part to the existence of unequal capita social community. The present study has aimed to determine and analyze the gaps in existing development communities of Ships and Port East in the city of Itarema, arising from presence / absence of social capital. We developed a questionnaire in an attempt to find tangible characteristics of the existing share capital in the two communities. Analysis of questionnaire served as a subsidy for the construction of social capital index. results showed that the Community of East chosen by the "Council of Knowing" as the most developed, has a larger stock of capital compared to Commonwealth of Puerto Boats of the least developed. This induces a state that communities with more social capital are more developed than communities with less social capital.
