Abstract

Esse valor demonstra o considerável benefício econômico que a Rua do Porto gera para toda a população.-----------------------------------------------The present research has for objective to estimate the value of visitation of Rua do Porto (former-Rua da Praia), in Piracicaba (SP), located on the left margin of the river Piracicaba and formerly inhabited for fishermen and builders of boats. For so much, interviews were accomplished at the place to obtain the willingness to pay for the area’s conservation. The estimate of the variations in the well-being, in the individuals' preferences, was made by using hypothetical markets, through the contingent valuation method, being adopted the referendum model with logistics distribution. The rising of the data was made among the months of August to September of 2007 with the application of questionnaires to a sample of 110 visitors. The WTP was from R$ 2.98 per month.
