Abstract

The objective of this article is to discuss case studies, carried out within the Ceará, in the region of Inhamuns, on the productive potential of mamona. From a study bilbiográfico of two surveys conducted in 2005 and 2006, sought is examining growing mamona. It was identified through the consolidation of the results of two surveys carried out in three municipalities in the region of Inhamuns that although the production of oil mamona not generate a significant extra income for farming family in a static scenario, the culture, the beneficiary eligibility and marketing of oleaginous if taken on a cooperative and technically correct can improve the results hitherto obtained, or even generate a greater income for small and medium-sized farmers. It appears that farmers working in isolation, hampering the gains of the economy of scale, since the economic viability of the production of oil from mamona held by family farmers could only be achieved with the implementation of an integrated work and with greater dimension. Another yes, there is a difficulty in the implementation of new techniques of planting, due to low education farmers family. The results of the two surveys is a clear lack of capital, that is, realized that the lack of cooperative association is a quot; bottleneck quot; to the production, and, particularly, the marketing because there is a lack of coordination.
