Abstract

Ancorada na articulação de potencialidades locais e oportunidades globais, a construção de territorialidades constitui uma estratégia de desenvolvimento presente no mundo contemporâneo. A relação estabelecida entre identidade, enquanto construtora de novas territorialidades, e o reconhecimento de especificidades locais mediante registro de Indicação Geográfica pode constituir elemento potencializador do desenvolvimento territorial. Neste cenário, tomam importância crescente os dispositivos de reconhecimento, voltados aos consumidores, dos diferenciais de qualidade da gastronomia resultante de produtos e modos de fazer locais, baseados na identidade e ancestralidade. Neste contexto, também a divulgação passa a constituir um importante meio de promoção dos sabores peculiares produzidos em um território. No intuito de compreender a construção do território da Quarta Colônia de imigração italiana, na região central do RS, analisou-se a recorrência de menções sobre gastronomia e produtos agroalimentares locais no fascículo Caderno Quarta Colônia, encarte semanal do jornal Diário de Santa Maria. Foram analisados 80 fascículos correspondentes a 18 meses de publicação, buscando-se identificar produtos com características típicas singulares, passíveis de reivindicação e reconhecimento via dispositivo de Indicação Geográfica. -------------------------------------------Anchored in the combination of local potentialities and global opportunities, the territoriality construction constitutes a development strategy of the cotemporary world. The relation established between identity, as the generator of new territorialities, and the recognition of local specificities based on register of Geographical Indication can be a central element to the territory development. In this context, the recognition tools, aiming at the costumers, acquire higher importance, by analyzing the quality differences in the gastronomy as a result of local products and ways of preparing dishes, based on identity and ancestry. Considering this, the media is also an important promotion channel of the peculiar taste produced in a specific territory. Aiming at studying the structure of Quarta Colônia, a territory of Italian culture in the central region of RS, it was analyzed the frequency gastronomy and agrifood products were mentioned in the Caderno Quarta Colônia, a weekly special issue by the newspaper Diário de Santa Maria. It were analyzed 80 issues from 18 months of publication, in order to identify products presenting typical characteristics that could be recognized through a Geographical Indication tool.
