Abstract

A agricultura orgânica é uma atividade que visa promover a preservação do meio ambiente, respeitando a biodiversidade e as atividades biológicas do solo. Desta forma, esta atividade enfatiza o uso de práticas de manejo em oposição ao uso de agrotóxicos, assim fixando de modo mais definitivo o homem no campo. Acredita-se que esta atividade seja uma forma de produção ecologicamente sustentável, socialmente justa e economicamente viável em todas as escalas da produção. No Ceará a agricultura orgânica tem uma área plantada de 13.820 ha, espalhados em vários municípios, sendo a maior concentração na microrregião da Ibiapaba. Esse trabalho tem como objetivo geral analisar a sustentabilidade da agricultura orgânica familiar dos produtores associados à APOI (Associação dos Produtores Orgânicos da Ibiapaba)-CE e fazer uma análise dos indicadores, econômico, técnico-agronômico, manejo, ecológico e político-institucional. O resultado permite concluir que o sistema de produção da APOI é sustentável, embora os indicadores econômico, técnico-agronômico e político-institucional, demonstrem que precisam ser melhorados para obtenção do Índice de Sustentabilidade.---------------------------------------------The organic agriculture is an activity which aims for environment preservation, respecting biodiversity an biological activities of the soil. This activity emphasizes the use of management techniques in contrast to the use of agrochemicals, thus definitely fixing man in the countryside. It is believed that this activity is a method of production which is ecologically sustainable, socially fair and economically feasible in all scales of production. In Ceará, the organic agriculture has a cultivated area of 13.820 ha spread over many counties, being the biggest concentration in the micro region of Ibiapaba.. This paper aims to analyze the sustainability of organic agriculture of family producers associated to APOI (Associação dos Produtores Orgânicos da Ibiapaba)-CE and make an analysis of the economic, technical-agronomical, managementl, ecological and political-institutional indicators. The results allowed us to conclude that the APOI production system is sustainable, although the economic, technical-agronomical and political-institutional indicators need to be improved to obtain higher sustainability index.
