Abstract

With considerable potential for job generation and income tourism is one of the most important segments of the world-wide economy. We intend to contribute for the increasement of the competition and sustainability of the tourist destinies of Mato Grosso do Sul against the other Brazilian destinies, through the identification of the hotspots of the area making formulation of actions possible for politics and tourist track plans to consolidate tourism as one of the most important economic activities in the state. That study was based on a diagnosis of possible tourist attractions as well as the basic infrastructure for the development of that activity in the area. As results, it was verified that the investments accomplished in the expansion of the segment are directly related with the expansion of the other local economical activities. Besides, the implement and development of the tourist activity can bring environmental benefits, making possible the preservation recovering areas of great natural beauty and actions to stop pollution. Therefore the need of a formal involvement among all segments related with the activity: tourist attractions, businessmen and politicians.
