Cultivo de tilápia no Brasil: origens e cenário atual

Abstract

O objetivo principal do estudo foi analisar a evolução do cultivo de tilápia no Brasil desde a sua origem até o presente momento, destacando os fatores limitantes e também os fatores favoráveis que contribuíram para a rápida expansão da atividade nos últimos anos. Os dados utilizados na pesquisa foram de origem primária e secundária. Os resultados mostraram que houve intenso crescimento da produção do peixe a partir de 1996, mas ainda não foram feitos os investimentos necessários para viabilizar o beneficiamento e a comercialização da tilápia em larga escala.------------------------The main objective of the study was to analyze tilapia cultivation performance in Brazil since its origins until the present moment. The study emphasizes the limiting factors and the favorable ones that contributed to the fast expansion of this activity in the last years. Cross-section and secondary data was utilized in the survey. The study emphasizes that there was an intensive production growth of tilapia since 1996. However, in order to expand the production and trade of this fish, the sector needs additional investments.
