Viabilidade econômica da cafeicultura da agricultura familiar na Zona da Mata de Minas Gerais

Abstract

O projeto verificou a viabilidade econômica da cafeicultura de agricultores familiares com vistas à inserção no mercado de cafés certificados. Focou sistemas de produção da cafeicultura da agricultura familiar de propriedades exploradas sob a forma convencional, não orgânica nos municípios de Araponga e Viçosa. Comparou os sistemas de produção segundo eficiência, qualidade, competitividade, eqüidade e sustentabilidade. Analisou os processos de produção, de comercialização e de gestão Os dados foram obtidos em visitas às propriedades. Para a quantificação e análise dos indicadores econômicos foram utilizadas metodologias de análises microeconômicas e estudos de casos. Os resultados foram organizados de forma tabular e gráfica. Esses permitiram verificar que todas as propriedades analisadas, apresentaram rentabilidade capaz de promover o desenvolvimento sustentável da exploração sob o ponto de vista econômico, Para as condições estudadas, o melhor desempenho foi com venda do café natural seco, para o mercado consumidor local, consumidores nem sempre exigentes de certificação. Ademais, a baixa escala de produção vigente ainda determina baixo nível de vida às famílias.--------------------The project verified the economic viability of the family farm in coffee production with sights to the insertion in the market of certified coffees. It focused systems of production of the coffee family agriculture, organic production, and conventional non organic in two cities of Zona da Mata Region of Minas Gerais. It compared the systems of production according to efficiency, quality, competitiveness, fairness and sustainability. It analyzed the production processes, of commercialization and of management the data had been gotten in visits to the properties. For the quantification and analysis of the economic pointers methodologies of microeconomic analyses and studies of cases had been used. The results had been organized of tabular and graphical form. These had allowed to verify that all the analyzed properties, had presented yield capable to promote the sustainable development of the exploration under the economic point of view. For the studied conditions, optimum performance were with commercialization of the dry natural coffee, for the local market consumption, not always demanding for certification. Also, the scale of effective production still determines low level of life to the families.
