Abstract

This paper examines the duration of trade in services. Analyzing highly disaggregated data for Germany, covering the period from 2001 to 2010 in monthly frequency, we identify determinants for the length of trade relationships and compare our results with findings for merchandise trade. Similar to goods trade, we find, for instance, that survival probabilities are affected by initial transaction size, the type of service, market structure and various country characteristics.
