Abstract

The objective of the investigation was to evaluate glucose levels (mM) in digestive gland, hemolymph and muscle of shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei, after food intake. The experiment consisted a batch of shrimp grown in a semi-intensive system at the Laboratory of Marine and Aquaculture Research Laboratory (LIMA), reaching an average weight of 8.9 grams in the period of July -October. They were transferred to 6 tubs, one called control and 5 of time 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 hours; To which a ratio of 10 shrimp per tub was placed, maintaining constant aeration. Digestive gland, hemolymph and muscle samples were taken for analysis of glucose curves. In digestive gland we observed an increase in the glucose concentrations after 4 hours and the levels were maintained; in hemolymph we observed that there is a slight tendency to decrease of control - 4 hours and then to increase the concentrations after 4 hours and in muscle An increase in control - 4 hours, being at this time its highest levels after its basal levels. Proving that there is an inverse negative correlation (P <0.05) of the ratio of glucose (mM) levels between digestive gland - hemolymph and muscle - hemolymph.
