L’inclusion des groupes vulnérables dans quatre chaînes de valeur agricoles en Afrique de l’Ouest

Abstract

Devant une très forte pression démographique, la population de jeunes grandit sans cesse, due à des taux de fertilité qui demeurent élevés. D’ici dix ans, plus de 66 millions d’emplois devront être créés dans la région afin d’éviter une génération de jeunes chômeurs. En plus, environ 40% des populations rurales vivent actuellement en-dessous du seuil de pauvreté. Cette main d’oeuvre est rémunérée à moins de $US 1,25 par jour. Les Gouvernements des pays d’Afrique de l’ouest font face à un double défi qui consiste à créer des millions d’emplois mais en même temps des opportunités économiques plus rémunératrices.
