Tipología de microrregiones en el sector agrícola de Ecuador: una herramienta para priorizar inversiones en el marco de la Iniciativa Mano de la mano

Abstract

En este escrito se ha realizado un análisis de tipologías de microrregiones para identificar y diferenciar las regiones del Ecuador con potencialidades y problemáticas comunes, de aquellas otras donde las políticas de desarrollo deban ser distintas. En una primera etapa, se estima una función de frontera estocástica utilizando encuestas de hogares/productores agropecuarios para predecir el potencial y la eficiencia técnica. Estas predicciones son utilizadas, en una segunda etapa, para promediar los valores a nivel de cantón (unidad administrativa de análisis previamente definida) y, junto con información proveniente de un mapa de pobreza, para clasificar estos indicadores en tres categorías (bajo, medio y alto), e identificar y agrupar los territorios en siete microrregiones. El análisis provee una herramienta visual y geográfica para priorizar territorios, así como también un marco conceptual para diferenciar estrategias o intervenciones.
