Le Choix Varietal En Culture De Tomate A La Martinique

Abstract

le choix variétal pour la culture de la tomate se fait selon de multiples critères : niveau et régularité du rendement, résistance aux maladies, qualité et conservation des fruits. Les différents tests utilisés pour évaluer les variétés selon ces critères sont présentés et une synthèse est réalisée pour orienter le choix des agriculteurs en fonction de leurs systèmes de culture. Les cultures sous abris se sont développées rapidement à la Martinique ces dernières années: elles permettent de cultiver toute l'année, malgré les fortes pluies et autorisent l'intensification sur de faibles surfaces. Toutefois l'investissement dans un abri est important et il est indispensable d'utiliser des techniques culturales adaptées pour valoriser au mieux cet investissement. Parmi ces techniques culturales, deux sont fondamentales : la protection phytosanitaire des cultures et le choix variétal. Cette communication présentera les travaux entrepris par le CIRAD pour proposer aux agriculteurs une gamme de variétés de tomates adaptées à leurs conditions.
