Abstract

L'igname est l'une des principales plantes à tubercule cultivé en zone tropicale. Actuellement, avec la nécessité d'augmenter la production à des coûts favorables, la tendance est au développement croissant de cette culture qui occupe de plus en plus de zones mécanisables. L'une des conditions essentielles pour réussir une culture d'igname consiste à réaliser une bonne préparation du sol pour faciliter l'amélioration de l'enracinement et la tubérisation. C'est ce point fondamental qui a fait l'objet de notre étude. Nous avons en effet ; comparé plusieurs modes de préparation de sol et testé leur incidence sur l'enracinement et le développement des tubercules de l'igname. Les résultats de cette étude nous ont permis de mettre au point un billonneur pour une préparation du sol adaptée à la culture de l'igname.
