Abstract

----- Toe strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch) has a great economic potencial as a fresh fruit in Puerto Rico. Studies have be.en made with plant growth regulators (GA3, BA, Promalin, NAA) and plant growth inhibators (CCC, ancymidol, Alar). There were used 'Tristar' and 'Tribute' varieties. Toe results ofthese experiments demostrated that gibberelic acid (GAJ) and Promalin increased tbe production of, stolons serie and the enlargement of the leaf stalk. Also, the number of inflorescences per crown in 'Tristar' variety increased when the treatments were applied 30 days after planting. Benzylaminopurine (BA) increased the development of crowns in both varieties in applications 30 days a~er planting. Naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) inhibits the vegetative development in 'Tristar' variety, but it has no effects in 'Tribute' variety. Cycocel (CCC), A-Rest (ancymidol) and B-Nine (alar) have any effects in the vegetative development and neither in the flowering.
