Caracterización Agronómica de Algunos Tipos de Guandul (Cajanus cajan, Millsp)

Abstract

Nuevas variedades de guandul han sido introducidas al país para su utilización en la industria de enlatado y consumo fresco. Es necesario por lo tanto obtener infonnaciones básicas sobre las característica's agronómicas para dar las recomendaciones adecuadas a los agricultores. Con este fín se llevaron a cabo ensayos en las locadidades de San Cristóbal y San Juan de la Maguana para determinar el marco de plantación más adecuado y así optimiz.ar la producción. Las variedades b~jo estudio fueron Kaki Blanco, Puerto Rico y Sagarateado; como testigo utilizamos la variedad Kaki comercial. Los resultados en San Cristóbal fueron significativamente superiores en cuanto al rendimiento de las cuatro variedades a los obtenidos en San Juan de la Maguana. Con un marco de 1.50 mt., entre hileras y plantas se logró mayor rendimiento en San Cristóbal para todas las variedades.
