Posibilidad de lucha biologica contra Diaprepes abbreviatus L. (Coleoptera: curculionidae) en la República Dominicana

Abstract

Ante la importancia del problema planteado por las altas poblaciones de D. abbreviatus en las plantaciones de cítricos, parece necesario el orientar de manera düerente la lucha contra este picudo. En efecto, los tratamientos químicos regulares, el costo y su eficacia, a veces aleatoria, son probablemente el origen de los desequilibrios observados. La busqueda de los parasitoides de D. abhreviat11s ha mostrado la presencia de 3 Eulophidae (Aprostocetus ? gala, A. haitiensis, Baryscapus fennahi) y un solo Trichogrammatidae (Brachyufens osborni). Por tanto una primera posibilidad de lucha biológica está en curso en las plantaciones de Villa Altagracia, con la liberación de una nueva especie de Trichogrammatidae: Ceratogramma etiennei. Sumada a esta alternativa se encuentra la utilización del hongo Beauveria bassiana. Conviene recordar que tal lucha, que mira al restablecimiento del equilibrio biológico que favorece a este nuevo auxiliar y sobre todo al conjunto de enemigos natuales de D. ahbreviatus, no podrá tener un efecto estable hasta después de varios años.
