Abstract

Awareness and adoption of chemical weed control in peanut farming and the use of communication channels among peanut cultivating farmers was studied. One and a half years after its introduction 17% of the farmers had adapted this innovation. A large group was still not aware of the innovation. Lack of knowledge was the major constraint to its adoption. Adescription is given of the process by which information on improved farm practices goes from the source, in this case the Agricultural Experiment Station, to the farmers. Constraints which may have hindered a more effective flow of information to the farmer are discussed.
