Tizôn Foliar: Enfermedad De La Yautia Coco (Colocasia Esculenta L. Schott) Causado Por (Phytophthora Colocasiae) En Repùblica Dominicana

Abstract

La production y consumo de la yautia coco (C. esculenta) aumentô un 35% en los ùltimos meses del 2003, luego que decenas de productores de arroz decidieran cambiar de cultivo para dedicarse a la siembra de este rubro. En el verano de 2004, se presentaron brotes epidémicos severos de una enfermedad en numerosas plantaciones de la parte nororiental del pais, lo que motivô a realizar muestreos con fines de diagnôstico. Las muestras fueron analizadas en los laboratorios de protection vegetal del IDIAF, en donde se aislô en PDA el hongo P. colocasiae. El diagnôstico obtenido confirma la presencia en Repûblica Dominicana de dicho hongo. La presencia del patôgeno en nuestro pais habia sido reportada por Holliday (1980) y Ciferri (1954). A pesar de que no han sido cuantificadas las pérdidas econômicas causadas por la enfermedad, los danos son considerables( ha afectado mâs del 50% del ârea sembrada en todo el pais), e inciden negativamente en la production y productividad del cultivo.
